Brain Exercise Enhancement Laboratory
Welcome to the Brain Exercise Enhancement Research Laboratory at McMaster University
Our research is focused on characterizing the mechanisms underlying the cognitive enhancing effects of exercise and other daily behaviours including supplementation, screen time and sleep.
The goal of our research is to apply this knowledge to develop interventions that optimize cognitive health and protect against neurological disease across the lifespan.
We are particularly interested in the acute and long-term impacts of these behaviours on the neuroactive hormones including brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), cerebral blood flow and cerebrovascular function, and cognition.
